On Friday 4th August 2017 the Museum hosted an afternoon of talks, presentations and performance as part of the Institute of Physics Summer Sessions. The afternoon featured particle astrophysicist Dr Cham Ghag; Emma Meehan, Senior Technician at Boulby Underground Laboratory; artist Sarah Gillett who  presented a performative essay “The Case of the Gold Ring” tracing the story of gold through personal and cosmic connections, and guest artist Lancaster University lecturer Sarah Casey who discussed her research practise which tests the limits of visibility and material existence through drawing. The events was attended by an audience of more than 40 who asked lots of questions in the  open panel discussion and Q & A session at the end of the afternoon.
