Matt Poll of the Australian National Maritime Museum will be visiting Whitby Museum and will be giving a talk about a rare 19th century ship figurehead which depicts a First Nations woman.
Using forensic analysis, Matthew Poll and his team are seeking to identify which ship this decorative piece of colonial art belonged to, potentially rewriting Australia’s maritime history.
Tickets can be bought in person from the museum reception or online (booking fee applies to online reservation by both members and non-members). Please note there is a new ticket price of £5 for non-members. Members can still book tickets in advance for free by reserving at the museum desk. All tickets include a cup of tea or coffee on the day.
