Society membership
There are many reasons to become a member of the Society:
- to have free admission as often as you like,
- to have access to our extensive reference library,
- to research your family tree,
- advance notice and discounts on our popular events,
- to enjoy our interesting lectures,
- the opportunity to meet other like-minded people and
- the chance to help in the museum.
Above all becoming a member will help Whitby Museum preserve the past for the future.
The first stage in becoming a member is to complete an application form (PDF). Membership form (docx) Once the application is complete, either post it to the address provided or email it to manager@whitbymuseum.org.uk.
Your name will then be brought to the next meeting of the trustees for their approval. When this formality has been satisfied, our membership secretary will contact you to ask you to send your subscription. This is currently £25 for sole members and £35 for two members living at the same address. The easiest way to pay this is by annual subscription, but you may prefer to pay by cash or cheque. Details of how to pay will be given once your membership is confirmed.
When we have received your subscription, you will be sent your membership card and a copy of the latest annual report, featuring interesting articles on the latest research into the collection by museum curators, and welcomed to the Society.
