Our 2020 Costume Gallery exhibition is ‘Mad as Hatters’; showcasing the museum’s headwear collection.
The exhibition was nearing completion when we had to close so will now open when we reopen to the public.
Here’s a sneak peak at some of the Staithes bonnets which will be on display. The Staithes bonnet was worn by fishermen’s wives, it’s special design provided cushioned protection as they carried heavy baskets of fish upon their heads.
