The Zeplin III has landed!

The Zeplin III dark matter detector which was used at Boulby Underground Laboratory until 2011 has been kindly donated to the Museum by Imperial College, London.  The detector arrived at the Museum on Friday 19th January, and a team led by Professor Henrique Araujo, Professor of Physics at Imperial College, moved the Zeplin III  detector into the Museum. On Saturday 20th January the team moved the detector into the Museum’s exhibition room and prepared it for the exhibition, “Whitby and the Cosmos”. The team consisted of staff from Imperial College, Boulby Mine and the Museum. Much more work needs to be done to make the exhibition ready for its opening to the public on Saturday 16th February. Please note that the Zeplin III cannot be viewed until 16th February.
