West Cliff Congregational Church Commemorative Plaque

On this Remembrance Day it seemed fitting to highlight this stunning plaque which commemorates the brave actions of all those members of the congregation who served during WW1.

Until last year the plaque could be seen on the wall inside West Cliff Congregational Church on Skinner Street, but when the church closed in September 2019 the plaque was offered to the museum.

It is now hanging proudly within the museum where it can be admired once again.

The original Congregational Chapel had been built on Silver Street in 1770, this became a lecture hall and Sunday school when the church on Skinner Street was opened in 1868.
