‘A Whitby Life’

Interviews with John Tindale – “A Whitby Life”

The Whitby photographer and cultural archivist John Tindale interviews men and women of Whitby and District who lived a full and fruitful Whitby life.

Recorded on reel-to-reel tape in the 1970s and 80s, these conversations reveal some hard times here and there but also much fun and joy in lives well lived.

Complemented by real archive footage of Whitby, much rarely seen before.

A warm and touching look at lives lived in the top right-hand corner of Yorkshire in a time now gone…

A film by Ann Dodsworth, Blow Your Trumpet Films with thanks to the Yorkshire and North East Film Archives.

Based on audio interviews by John Tindale held by the Whitby Museum
