Join Matthew on an enthralling journey into the distant past as he recounts tales from the beaches of South Wales, Somerset and North Yorkshire, where he searches for the fossilised bones of great marine reptiles, the ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs. After surviving a terrifying accident in the mountains, Matthew took up a new hobby, fossil hunting, and quickly progressed from amateur to expert collector. Whilst sharing the secrets behind some of his most extraordinary finds, Matthew will also offer practical advice for those looking to start on their own Jurassic journey of discovery and wonder.
About the author
Matthew Myerscough is a fossil hunter, author and civil engineer, originally from Cardiff but now based in Darlington. In Search of Sea Dragons, his first book, was published by Seren Books in March. Matthew is also a qualified Mountain Leader and has survived an avalanche.
After the talk Matthew will be signing copies of his book ‘In Search of Sea Dragons’ – you can order a copy to collect on the day by selecting a ‘with book’ ticket. Talk lasts approximately 30 minutes with questions and signing to follow.
