Access Information

Parking

There are four extra wide parking spaces at the rear of the museum for blue badge holders, accessed via the St Hilda’s Terrace entrance to Pannett Park. If you are using sat nav, please enter the postcode YO21 3AG. We do not have other public parking facilities at the museum. Additional parking can be found at Whitby Leisure Centre (charges apply), a 5-minute walk way. On-street parking is available in neighbouring streets (disc required).

Entry

Access at the rear of the museum is level and suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Please use the entry phone at the rear door to alert the museum assistant to your presence so that the door can be automatically released.

Toilets

There are three accessible toilets: (one on lower ground floor in the New Wing, one on the ground floor by the rear entrance, and one on the upper floor in the New Wing).

Wheelchair hire

A manual wheelchair is available to hire free of charge. Booking is not essential, but may be advisable to ensure availability.

Levels

The lift is currently out of action for the forseeable future. We regret that this means that ‘Adventures in Time -The Development of Steampunk’ in our costume gallery is only accessible via a flight of steps. All other exhibitions are accessible on a level and the tea room can be accessed via the external doors. Accessible toilet is still available. Please contact us ahead of your visit if you require further information on 01947 602908.

The main museum hall and the Pannett Art Gallery are all on one level. The new extension is on three levels and is served both by stairs and a lift. There is an on-site tea room. The tea room is situated on the lower floor of the new wing and can be accessed by stairs or lift.

Support dogs

Support dogs are very welcome.

Carers

If a visitor requires a registered carer to enable them to visit the museum, the registered carer is admitted free of charge.
